 ¡¡¡¡Yellow Skin Sugar Cane, also called Bingtang (Crystal
Sugar) Cane, Gold Sugar Cane by local farmers, has spread quickly
since its introduction in Panyu three years before. According to
some preliminary statistical figures, in 2001, the growth area was
about 4000 mu (266.8hectare) with a total production of 40,000 tons.
It has become famous species of sugar cane ,following another two:
namely Black Skin Sugar Cane and White Skin Sugar Cane. Yellow Skin
Sugar Cane is widely distributed in Lvcun Village, Lanhe Town;as
well as Zisha Village, Duntang Village, Gaosha Village, Xinsha
Village, Yansha Village in Lingshan Town; Make Village, Dajian
Village in Yuwotou Town. Yellow Skin sugar Cane has the following
special features: Firstly, much more yield, about 10 tons yield per
mu. This is about2-3 tons per mu more than Black Skin Sugar Cane.
The stem is also taller and thicker than Black Skin Sugar Cane.
Secondly, higher quality, golden-colored thin skin; crisp, sweet,
good taste. You can¡¯t help praising them after you eat it. The
harvest time of Yellow Skin Sugar Cane is from October to March each
year, some of them are sold in the local area(Guangzhou and Dongguan
city), yet mostly found a good market in Tianjin and Henan province.
Owing to its brisk buying and selling, it is very popular among the
farmer and the customers, it has a bright future.
