 ĦĦĦĦThe orchid cultivation in Shawan Town has more than
200 yearsĦŻ history. It has a widespread mass base in Shawan.
Presently the entire town total area of orchid cultivation is
approximately 300 mu, with more than 300 varieties, besides the
traditional four main orchids ( Golden Nib Orchid, Silver Edge
Orchid, Penguin Black Orchid, White Black Orchid) and the Small
Peachblow Orchid, the Silver Needle Orchid and so on, but also many
precious varieties developed in recent years for people to
appreciate the floriculture, the art of their leaves and postures
and so on. The conversion of the orchid storage quantity amounts
(current value) approximately 54 million Yuan. The annual production
is estimated at nearly 20 million Yuan this year.ĦĦĦĦShawan orchids have been well-known for a long time. It plays an important role in the "three high" agricultural development in our town with its superior quality, high price and large scales. In recent years it frequently attained great honors. From 1998 to 2000, it participated in "The Nation Orchid Exhibition", "The First Orchid Exhibition in Guangdong Province", "The Kunming World Flowers and Plants Exposition" and so on. It attained many gold, silver and bronze prizes that altogether reached 33 items. ĦĦĦĦRegardless of the cultivation history, the planting technology, brand reputation, the market taking rate, the economic efficiency and so on, the Shawan orchid has quite a big influence in Panyu, the Pearl River Delta and even Guangdong Province, and has formed the Shawan characteristic orchid culture gradually. The product has been sold in distant domestic markets, and exported to South Korea, Japan, Thailand and Hong-Kong, Macao and Taiwan area. |
